WHAT IS AAT

A Clinically Proven and Safe Therapy

Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT) is a clinically proven treatment that is highly effective in treating the many symptoms associated with allergies and sensitivities. It was developed through over 28 years of collaborative research by healthcare professionals in the fields of acupuncture, naturopathy, and chiropractic. What makes AAT different is that it doesn’t rely on medication, herbal remedies, or supplements. And the best part? It’s completely safe and painless and is available to people of all ages, so everyone can benefit from this therapeutic approach.

The AAT method works directly with the relationship between the major organ systems and overreactions to harmless substances. While the immune system is responsible for initiating an immune reaction in the case of true allergies, it is the health and state of the organ systems that often determines the type of symptoms that may arise.

When it comes to sensitivities and allergies, symptoms typically stem from the organ system affected.

When it comes to reactions, using soybeans as an example, symptoms can vary greatly from person to person. For instance, one patient may experience rashes, while another may experience sinus congestion, heartburn, or even irritable bowel syndrome. Each of these symptoms represents a different organ system that is involved. By focusing treatment on the specific organ system(s) involved in a reaction, the body is better equipped to respond more appropriately to a substance, which means fewer symptoms.

It’s interesting to note that when it comes to allergic reactions, there can be multiple potential culprits. On one hand, the organ system itself may react, resulting in symptoms associated with that system. On the other hand, mast cells in the tissues may also contribute to a reaction. These mast cells, which play a central role in allergic responses, can be activated by non-allergic triggers such as stress, according to an increasing body of evidence. This means the body may exhibit symptoms similar to those caused by a true allergy, without the involvement of an IgE response. However, in the case of a true allergy, addressing the reactive organs could help reduce associated symptoms.

Understanding THE AAT METHOD

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, treatment methods involve stimulating specific points on the body to directly access and improve each organ system. These points have been successfully used for thousands of years. AAT therapy builds on this approach by utilizing these points in a unique and innovative way that has been proven to result in successful treatments.

The treatment points are located along both sides of the spine and correspond to the location of the sympathetic chain, which is responsible for the body’s “fight or flight” responses. By targeting reactive organ systems through these points in relation to a specific substance contributing to a reaction, it’s possible to shift the body out of a defensive state and promote a healthier response.

At AAT, we understand that some people may be apprehensive about needles. That’s why our method utilizes a precision-based acupressure technique to treat organ systems, rather than needles. Our unique approach of addressing defensive physiology has proven to be highly effective in altering the state of the organ systems. The AAT therapy has been developed as an Integrative Medicine and is offered by certified AAT practitioners who come from a variety of backgrounds, including Acupuncturists, Chiropractors, Naturopathic Doctors, Osteopaths, Medical Doctors, and Registered Nurses.

It’s important to note that AAT is exclusively used by licensed healthcare professionals in private practice. Each practitioner combines various modalities from within their scope of practice, and they may offer additional testing or treatment methodologies that align with their unique approach to patient care.

Conditioning Effect

NEGATIVE CONDITIONING

“Exposure to allergens at certain times when the body’s defenses are lowered or weakened, such as a viral infection or pregnancy, seems to contribute to the development of allergies.”

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease

The body can become conditioned to react inappropriately to a harmless substance and develop a sensitivity to that item. This can occur when the body erroneously perceives the substance as a threat, particularly when the body is in a ‘fight or flight’ state. Essentially, the body mistakenly identifies the substance as a danger and the body creates symptoms to avoid the substance.

It’s not just actual threats that can trigger our body’s stress response, but also perceived threats. Whether it’s from physical strain, mental pressure, or emotional stress, our body’s response to these perceived threats can lead to negative conditioning effects.

POSITIVE CONDITIONING

In 1903, Dr. Ian Pavlov made a groundbreaking discovery that demonstrated the ability to affect physiology through external stimuli. Through his work with dogs, Dr. Pavlov found that the association of food with an external stimulus in the form of a ringing bell could condition the dog’s physiology to activate its salivary glands even when no food was present. This showed the power of external stimuli in shaping physiological responses.

Through the AAT therapy, we can positively recondition the body by stimulating points along the spine to decrease sympathetic activity, while simultaneously exposing the body to substances that cause inappropriate reactions. By pairing exposure and stimulation during a treatment, the body can create a new association with the substance. This simple process reconditions the body, establishing a new positive relationship with the substance.

To ensure a positive conditioning effect with the AAT treatment, it’s crucial to incorporate two forms of stimuli simultaneously:

    1. Exposure to the substance the patient is reacting to
    2. Stimulation of the treatment points along the spine to reduce hyperactivity of the organ systems.

What Happens During an AAT Treatment

During treatment, an AAT practitioner applies gentle pressure to specific points along the spine that correspond with the sympathetic nervous system and the organ systems involved in the reaction. By stimulating these points, a calming effect is created in the body, reducing stress on the affected organ systems.

Simultaneously, a digital representation of the substance being treated is introduced to the skin’s surface through a treatment cuff.

Because the point stimulation and substance exposure occur at the same time, the body forms a new association with the substance. By linking the calming effect in the body to the substance being treated, a positive conditioning effect is created, allowing the substance to no longer be perceived as harmful. This leads to a more appropriate response.

In the world of holistic medicine, there’s a common understanding that treating the whole body is crucial to achieving optimal health. It’s believed that various forms of stress and interference can disrupt the proper functioning of the body, leading to health issues. By reducing stress and interference, we can support the specific organ system and help the body respond more effectively. Ultimately, this approach allows for optimal health and wellness.

The Benefits of AAT

At AAT, we understand that every person is unique and will experience different reactions to substances a well as react to different components within the same substance. That’s why all the AAT treatment protocols are completely customized to suit each person’s specific symptoms and can identify the specific substances or components that are causing negative reactions. We’re proud to say that most of our patients continually report significant improvements in their symptoms or even complete resolution after just a few sessions with AAT.

At AAT, we believe in providing our clients with safe, natural, and effective treatment options for the many symptoms associated with allergies and sensitivities. We understand that medications can sometimes cause unwanted side effects and long-term health risks, and that a lifetime of avoidance can be incredibly challenging. That’s why we offer a non-invasive therapy that can help you regain control of your health and well-being. Whether you’re dealing with one sensitivity or multiple sensitivities, AAT can be a wonderful option to help reduce your symptoms and improve your overall quality of life.

AAT does not diagnose allergies, sensitivities, or intolerances.

AAT does not test for allergies or sensitivities. AAT simply assesses what may be causing stress to the body.

AAT does not cure allergies, nor does the therapy treat the immune system. AAT is a highly effective treatment that provides long-term relief from symptoms associated with allergies or sensitivities.

AAT does not treat cases of anaphylaxis or life-threatening symptoms. Strict avoidance is always advised in these cases.
